I led a six-person SEO team and kept 13 client accounts of my own
Senior SEO Consultant & SEO Team Lead · SearchLab Digital, Dallas (remote) · Dec 2021 to Sep 2025
The path
I started as a junior SEO consultant, was promoted to SEO Consultant, and then to Senior SEO Consultant and SEO Team Lead.
Running the team
I was the team's de facto Scrum master: sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and clearing whatever was blocking people. New team members learned the workflow by joining those ceremonies with the rest of us. I coached the developers, content writers and SEO consultants on the team and worked side by side with the paid-media managers.
The client work
My own accounts covered law firms, auto dealers, RV and travel-trailer dealers, jewelers and insurance companies. For all of them I ran technical SEO audits and planned the content. The work I remember most:
- Migrations. When a client moved to a redesigned site, I worked with the outside developers through the move so the old site's SEO work, its content and its ranking keywords came across with it.
- Content. I ran an outside content service from start to finish: the article titles, topics and target keywords, written to rank for both buying searches and research searches.
- The harder moments. Google algorithm penalties, rebrands, company mergers, and new locations brought under one local-SEO setup.
- The everyday local SEO. Address and hours changes, promotions and specials, kept consistent everywhere they appear.
Recognition
Two promotions, raises and performance bonuses, and month-to-month clients who kept renewing.
